Regarding the opioid crisis, I had read about pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies, lawmakers, and others, but nothing about the lack of a sense of purpose in brothers and sisters who knowingly abuse dangerous drugs. I understand that hopelessness arises from many factors, many of which are often beyond the control of the individual. Moreover, some persons in the businesses and legislatures themselves at times lack the healthy momentum of a noble sense of purpose–as I do, too, at times.
But receiving the love of God reveals who we truly are as beloved sons and brothers/daughters and sister in the universal family. And this love introduces us to the purpose of the eternal God, our Father and our friend, who is leading us as individuals and humankind as a whole towards a magnificent destiny. What a stimulus to our sense of purpose that we can live in love and contribute to that destiny!
